What is microneedling and how does it work?
As we age, the natural production of collagen and elastin gradually slows, leading to fine lines, uneven texture and loss of firmness. Microneedling helps reverse this by stimulating your skin’s natural repair mechanism. The IMedPen device uses ultra-fine, precisely controlled needles to create microscopic punctures on the skin’s surface. These tiny micro-injuries trigger your body’s healing response, encouraging new collagen and elastin to form. As fresh collagen develops, skin becomes brighter, firmer and more even in tone.
Is microneedling suitable for all skin types?
Absolutely. Microneedling is an effective treatment for all skin types and tones. Your therapist will recommend a melanin-inhibiting prep regimen for 2 weeks before treatment if you have darker or pigmentation-prone skin.
How will my skin look after the treatment?
Skin will appear pink or red for around 24–48 hours. Some clients experience tightness and slight flaking. Skin is typically back to normal within 7 days. Mineral-based makeup may be used after 24 hours.
Is there any downtime?
There is minimal to no downtime. Some erythema (redness) may last up to 2 days post treatment. Most clients return to normal activities the same or next day.
How many sessions will I need?
For fine lines, wrinkles or mild sun damage, a series of 3–4 treatments is typically recommended. For stretch marks or acne scars, 5–6 treatments. Deep wrinkles and severe scarring may require 8–12 treatments. Treatments are spaced 4–6 weeks apart.
How long do microneedling results last?
On average, results can last several months up to a year depending on the number of sessions, sun exposure, lifestyle habits and genetics. Touch-up sessions are recommended once you’ve reached your optimal results.
Can microneedling be combined with other treatments?
Yes. We often recommend combining microneedling with a chemical peel, or adding mesotherapy or exosome skin boosters to kickstart and accelerate the process. Your therapist will discuss the best combination for your skin at consultation. Allow at least 2 weeks between microneedling and other cosmetic treatments such as Botox, fillers, peels or tattooing.
